The Life You Save May Be Your Own - by Brittany Miles
In 2016, I lost it all: house, jobs, friendships and more. How did I survive this grief? I saved my life through the restorative power of surrender. Once I realized letting go wasn’t giving in to circumstance, my life transformed. I was no longer a victim but a victor! In 2020, we’re all going through similar loss and change and I’ll teach the 3-step surrender process which led to my personal freedom.
These are the most important things I learned in 2016: Stay present, breathe, and be still. These tools are useful in 2020 as things aren’t going as smoothly as they usually do; would you agree? A lot of new stuff on the bingo card! Our power comes from the present moment, so breathe. The breath allows us to calm the mind.
Once the mind is calm, awareness begins; our mind expands. It feels good; like self-care good. With storming thoughts past, we embrace and allow the stillness. It’s in the stillness where we can see things as they are. Acceptance comes through quiet. Now we can figure out what to do (or not do) next.
Saving ourselves moment by moment is our freedom. It’s accessible through the next breath and the next. Instead of scaring ourselves half to death with negative thoughts; let them go. You’re only losing stories you’ve made up about the present moment. Honestly, things solve themselves without our control. When in doubt take a deep breath and remember the life you save may be your own.
