The Dream Dectective Blog: Energy Experiments

By Mimi Pettibone

I have been practicing Pam Grout’s energy experiments from her book E-Squared: Nine Do-It-Yourself Energy Experiments That Prove Your Thoughts Create Your Reality. The premise is that there is an invisible field of energy which we are connected to and interact with, and that our thoughts and beliefs have an effect on this field. Since we are also fields of energy, and what we focus on expands in our consciousness, our thoughts impact our reality.

If you are reading this, chances are likely that you are familiar with the Law of Attraction theory. However as much as we read and watch movies about it, if it remains in the form of theory rather than practice we are not nearly as likely to see results. Pam’s book gives practical, tangible, 48 hour experiments that put the theory into practice and produce results. Anyone can do them--they don’t cost a thing.

One of the 48 hour experiments is to choose some type of sign or signal from the Universe, and ask for it to be revealed within the next 48 hours. This is a way of interacting with the quantum field that provides tangible evidence. On Friday night, I communicated with the field that I would like to see turquoise cars and butterflies as my signs that I am indeed having an interactive relationship with the field. The butterflies could be any color, and knowing that it’s not butterfly season I was open to seeing images of butterflies as well. The next day I was thinking about the experiment when I went on an outing, and within 1 block of walking I saw 2 turquoise cars. When I reached my destination, I saw a friend and her computer had an image of a butterfly on the screen. This all happened within a 10-minute time frame. Oh, I would say it’s working!

Pam also has a new book about gratitude called Thank and Grow Rich. She will be speaking at East West bookshop this Friday evening and teaching a workshop on Saturday. For more info and tickets click here

Come Back to the Breath
Come Back to the Breath

August 20, 2018

Greetings Yogis, it is the month of  August  in the year 2018, and while it may have been minutes, or days or even years since you last took a deep, slow, fully conscious breath, fear not! However long it has been, the great teachings of the ages assure us, that what is important is not how long we have strayed away breath but that we come back it here and now. As you read on, you can begin to tune into the rhythm of your own breath, noticing where it is moving in the body. Maybe just by bringing your attention to it, the breath deepens automatically. Try not to force anything- as the great teacher and founder of Ananda Yoga (the lineage of Yoga practiced at East West Bookshop) Swami Kriyananda taught, “All progress in Yoga is made through greater and greater relaxation.”

Doing Yoga With Children
Doing Yoga With Children

August 20, 2018

I have been practicing yoga for nearly 30 years and currently teach adults. Most recently however, I participated in a kid’s yoga camp as a teacher for ages 6-8. What the heck, I thought. Yoga has proven useful in many aspects of my life, a valuable tool, let’s see what it does for children. First of all, it was a joyful, playful experience, creatively energizing and exhausting as well.  Children tend to move quicker than adults; most children will move into a yoga posture faster than you can say the name, especially if they have practiced yoga before.
