An evening of classical Indian music with Richard Russell on sarode and Anil Prasad on tabla.
Richard Russell is a renowned sarode player who studied with the great maestro Ali Akbar Khan. He has performed Indian classical music for more than 30 years and is also an accomplished kirtan singer, educator and composer. He brings a unique and engaging spontaneity to the art of improvisation and is noted for soulful melodies and rhythmic energy. Anil Prasad has played tabla for decades and received much of his training from the incomparable Indian master, Zakir Hussain. He is equally at home with classical music, kirtan and fusion and is in high demand as one of Seattle’s premier tabla players. Russell and Prasad met in 2015 and immediately established a wonderful musical rapport, captivating audiences with their exciting collaboration.
