May 2019 Events

May 04, 2019 - Saturday 10:30-1:30pm - The Three Souls: Achieving Authentic Initiation - with Hank Wesselman

Anthropologist and author Hank Wesselman PhD. will address the question (with shamanic journeywork) of authentic initiation, and the most important question is "Who are you?"

The Hawaiian kahuna elder Hale Makua said often, that in order to experience authentic initiation, you have to know who you are... so that is the first question: Who are you (see my book The Bowl of Light: Ancestral Wisdom from a Hawaiian Shaman.

Many indigenous cultural groups hold the understanding that we have not one, but three souls. The Hawaiians are one such group and the deep knowledge of the kahuna mystics included this perception of how the three souls come together to create the self. This knowledge is part of the foundation for spiritual practice because you cannot experience authentic initiation unless you know who and what you are.
* In this mini-workshop, an examination of the three souls will be presented.
*The relationship between the three souls will be explored with relation to the self.
*The relationship between the three souls in the inner tradition will be discussed with relation to the great Akua of the Hawaiian religion.
* there will be experiential shamanic journeywork in a question of personal divination.
