January 2020 Events

January 15, 2020 - Wednesday 7:30-9pm - Religious Abuse Recovery - with Connie A Baker

Connie A Baker MA LPC will share her inspiring story of spiritual abuse and recovery and will help you discover more about toxic religious systems and find a path to healing.

Connie A. Baker, M.A. L.P.C. has a passion to see religious abuse survivors recover and thrive! At 25 years old, she was sexually assaulted by a pastor she trusted and respected. The church leadership blamed her for it and then told to leave her treasured spiritual community. This life-shattering experience motivated her to become a therapist to help others heal from religious abuse. She writes and speaks about religious ideas that can be used to manipulate followers – how fear, shame and guilt can be leveraged for control. This control can be psychological, spiritual, sexual, social or financial. With authenticity, openness, and careful consideration of many different faith expressions, Connie provides a path to hope and healing for survivors.
